What’s in it for us?

Having people of different ages and backgrounds from the local community working alongside us is invaluable as it allows us to gain many different perspectives on our processes, products and services.

These ‘fresh eyes’ help us to make sure we are meeting the needs of our members and the local community and keeping our offerings relevant. It also helps us to future proof the credit union as an organisation, ensuring that we will be around for many years to come, providing employment in the community and financial services and support for our members.

"I started working as a volunteer in 2002 after being out of the workforce for 2 years. I felt I lacked confidence and thought it would be good for me to ease myself back to work. I was trained as a teller and worked a few hours every week. I got invaluable experience and gained a lot of confidence. After some time, I was experienced enough to cover for tellers’ days off. Subsequently I was employed by a shop for office duties. I kept volunteering with the credit union and when a full-time position was advertised, I applied and got the job! I really enjoy my job. I love the interaction with the members and there is always work to be done behind the scenes which makes the job varied and interesting." Fiona, Credit Union Employee
