2024 Art Competition
We are delighted to announce the launch of the 2024 Credit Union Art Competition.
One of the most prominent and longest-running competitions of its type across Ireland, this year’s Credit Union Art Competition theme focuses on ‘The Joys of Life’ - inviting participants to share whatever brings them joy and happiness. Celebrating life’s simple pleasures and treasured moments through the likes of beautiful sunsets, sharing laughter with friends, or spending time with loved ones, the theme encourages participants to highlight their own precious memories.
How It Works:
There are two overall categories - General Category & Additional Needs Category - with the following 5 age groups in each category - age limits applying as of December 31st, 2024. The winning entries from (this) stage one (Credit Union Level) are passed to our Chapter for adjudication at a regional (second) stage before the winners only at this level are forwarded to the Irish League of Credit Unions (ILCU) for final (national) judging. Winners of each category (at the national level) will be used in the annual credit union calendar with all national prize recipients listed on the inside of the cover of the calendar.
Age Categories:
• 7 years and under
• 8 – 10 years inclusive
• 11 – 13 years inclusive
• 14 – 17 years inclusive
• 18 years and over (Adult)
Proof of year of birth may be requested by the credit union. Additional Needs Category entrants are not obliged to use the theme.
Tools & Materials:
The competition seeks to encourage young artists to draw or paint on this year’s theme, using pencil, charcoal, pen or ink, felt-tip markers, crayon, pastel, water colours, gouache, acrylics, oils, poster colour or collage. All entries must be submitted in either A3 (420 x 297mm) or A2 (594 x 420mm) and in landscape orientation. Other sizes and portrait-oriented entries will be disqualified from adjudication.
Entry Forms:
A copy of this year’s entry form can be downloaded by clicking the button below. Ensure ALL relevant details are filled in correctly. Entry forms must be securely attached to the back of each individual entry artwork. When securing the entry form to the back of the artwork, please keep the Privacy Statement & Rules facing out, so individual details are hidden from view. Please also ensure your entries are packed FLAT (not rolled up) when sending to credit union office.
How, Where & When to Submit:
If you are submitting multiple entries i.e. on behalf of a school / art class, please collate your entries into the relevant age categories, mark the categories clearly on each batch and submit all entries in ONE batch to our main office at Mountmellick Credit Union, Sarsfield Street, Mountmellick, Co. Laois. The closing date to submit entries is Friday 25th October 2024.
